For those who have been following the rise of Florentina Leitner, the designer’s Fall Winter 2026 collection feels like a natural yet deeply charming evolution of her world. Titled You Are a Star, the collection arrives with a sense of sincerity that is both refreshing and unexpectedly emotional.

Leitner, the Austrian designer who launched her label in 2022 after working at Dries Van Noten, has steadily built a distinctive voice in the Paris fashion scene. Her work often balances playful femininity with an offbeat sense of humour, blending storytelling, pop culture references and a slightly surreal aesthetic. Showing for the eighth time at Paris Fashion Week, she continues to expand a universe that feels personal, whimsical and instantly recognisable.

This season, that universe revolves around the idea of transformation.

Leitner draws inspiration from the makeover sequence in The Princess Diaries, a scene many millennials remember vividly. The awkward outsider slowly grows into her role as a princess, discovering confidence along the way. Leitner treats this narrative not as fantasy but as metaphor. Becoming who you are meant to be rarely happens overnight. It requires persistence, courage and a willingness to keep reaching for something just beyond your grasp.

Another reference adds a note of warmth and intimacy. In a memorable scene from Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw runs through snowy New York in her pyjamas on New Year’s Eve to meet her best friend. That moment of vulnerability becomes a key mood for the collection. Nightwear steps out of the private sphere and into public life, appearing as boxer shorts, sheer layers worn over pink lingerie and relaxed silhouettes that move with effortless ease.

Leitner’s signature playfulness appears in the details. Cozy winter textures sit alongside lamb shaped bags, sleeping masks and glittering star embellishments scattered across garments. Knitwear pieces feature sparkling prize bows while laser cut jewellery motifs and star shapes decorate tops and outerwear.

The palette remains grounded in shades of grey, black, white and brown, punctuated with gentle pink and blue accents. Metallic finishes and glitter details catch the light like constellations across a winter sky.

For longtime followers of the brand, there is another meaningful reference embedded in the collection. Leitner revisits motifs from her early collection Der Zauberberg, particularly the prize bow. Traditionally associated with recognition and achievement, the bows appear here not only as decoration but as functional accessories. Beauty queen sashes become bags designed to carry everyday essentials including water bottles.

It is a charmingly pragmatic gesture that reflects the spirit of the collection. Success is not a static moment but an ongoing journey. Leitner’s protagonists remain ambitious yet grounded. They chase their dreams, but they also stay comfortable enough to step outside in pyjamas.

What makes You Are a Star resonate is the designer’s ability to balance fantasy with emotional honesty. The modern heroine she imagines is grungy yet romantic, casual yet regal, self aware yet still dreaming.

In a fashion season often dominated by conceptual spectacle, Florentina Leitner offers something different. Her message is simple but powerful. Becoming a star does not require perfection. Sometimes it simply begins with the courage to believe that you can be one.
